Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund.
Meta’s owner, Mark Zuckerberg, had dinner with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in November. Zuckerberg has apparently tried to mend ties between his company and Trump since the election.
Trump has previously been highly critical of Mr. Zuckerberg and Facebook, which he called a platform to attack Trump in 2017.
Meta did not make a similar donation to President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2020 or to President Trump’s inauguration in 2016.
Meta confirmed to multiple news outlets on Wednesday that it had donated $1 million to the presidential inauguration.
