Trump’s return to the White House is also seen as a victory for Elon Musk, one of his most outspoken supporters.
Mr. Musk, one of the world’s richest men, was with Trump on election night at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
“The American people have given Donald Trump a clear mandate for change tonight,” Mr. Musk wrote on his X social media account.
Trump also mentioned Elon Musk in his victory speech, praising Musk’s SpaceX rocket company for several minutes.
Shares of Musk’s electric car company Tesla have also soared due to his association with the candidate, and his fortune is now estimated at $290 billion.
